The annual weekender, long regarded as the centrepiece of the Irish festival calendar, returns to Stradbally Hall, County Laois from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18 — a move from its usual September slot.

The festival announced their lineup publicly on social media on Friday morning, following the sell-out of a small number of weekend camping tickets that were returned or forfeited from pre-sales.

Friday's main-stage headliners include pop superstars Noah Kahan and Gerry Cinnamon; while Saturday sees electro-pop mogul Calvin Harris and pop-rock dependables Kodaline taking top billing.

Sunday, meanwhile, sees pop royalty descend upon on the Main Stage, as Kylie Minogue, in the middle of yet another career renaissance, and breakout star Raye complete the headlining announcements.

Other international names set for the weekend include DJ Peggy Gou, hip-hop legend NAS, electronic icons Faithless, singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, Big Music trailblazers The Waterboys, and noughties indie favourites Kasabian.

Filipino indie musician and producer Eyedress, whose 2020 single Jealous made for an unlikely TikTok smash, going Gold in America the following year, is also set for the lineup.

A pop comeback story par excellence continues on the weekend, as singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor's victory lap continues amid a second life for 2002 single Murder on the Dancefloor, including an appearance on the soundtrack to film smash Saltburn.

Homegrown heroes on the 2024 lineup include breakout dance vocalist Jazzy, Belfast hip-hop stars Kneecap, veteran singer and songwriter Damien Dempsey, and Dublin rapper Kojaque.

Galway shoegazers NewDad, fresh off the release of debut album Madra via Warners, are coming to the festival with 'ones-to-watch' tag firmly affixed, while metal/trad crossover outfit The Scratch, by now a long-established festival favourite, are also set to appear.

Among the advertised appearances is one last hurrah for rebel-balladeer outfit The Wolfe Tones — on the main stage after their 'curtain sellout' at last year's Electric Arena, and doing so in what's been billed as their final year of touring.

The festival's 2024 instalment is already sold out, including Friday morning's limited sale of weekend passes, but gig-goers are urged to keep an eye on TicketMaster for resale options.

Tickets for the upgraded Electric Picnic Lounge area, including exclusive food, drink and seating options, are still available — from €80 per day, and €180 for the weekend.

Early-access passes, allowing weekend camping ticket-holders to load in and put their tents up from Thursday afternoon, are also still available at €35 apiece.

The lineup announcement also comes amid the festival's ongoing efforts to 'go green', as announced in February, including connecting the Main Stage to the grid via mains power and running on renewable electricity, with the stated aim of reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.

Planning permission was submitted earlier this year for the construction of an on-site substation 'in a secluded area at Stradbally Hall', according to a previous statement.

The festival's site is currently serving as a short-stay accommodation facility for newly-arrived Ukrainian refugees following the inking in March of a new contract with the Department of Integration, set to expire in June, before the festival's production schedule is set to begin.

Electric Picnic takes place in Stradbally Castle, Co Laois, between Friday, August 16 and Sunday, August 18. For more information, head to electricpicnic.ie and follow the festival on social media.
