A Place in the Sun

A Place In The Sun viewers were left fuming when one house hunter walked out of a property after refusing to see it at all.

TV presenter Laura Hamilton, 42, fronted the show on Thursday and met a lady named Sally who was looking for a dream home in Cyprus for herself and her husband Tony.

Sally's sister-in-law Sharon was already living in the country and whilst Tony didn't appear on the show, Sharon was there to give a helping hand.

Sally and Tony had £125,000 to spend and also had the benefit of Sharon already knowing the area very well, given that she has lived there for seven years.

The duo were looking at the city of Peyia, which is a 40-minute drive from Paphos airport.

The pair were looking for a two-bedroom apartment or townhouse - with the hope of getting an extra bedroom.

Sally was looking for a dream home in Cyprus for herself and her husband Tony and the couple had a budget of £125,000

But their main focus was a place with a pool and areas where they could spend quality time with their family.

And while their budget was £125,000, they were willing to spend an extra £25,000 for their dream property.

However, things didn't go to plan as they ended up walking out of one house, refusing to even have a look around.

In another property, Sally - who wanted a nice sea view - refused to go up to the top floor as she was scared of heights, meaning she couldn't enjoy the view and thus ruled it out as a possible place she could live.

Looking at the second property, which cost £127,119, Sally admitted: 'Property one I walked in and loved - but not this one,' as Laura added: 'I don't want you to waste time if you think this isn't for you.'

Sally was adamant she didn't want to look at the property and Sharon also refused, leaving Laura lost for words.

Disgruntled fans then took to X, formerly Twitter, to rage about their comments on the properties branding them 'timewasters'.

One viewer wrote: 'Too scared to go up the stairs. What a pair of timewasters #aplaceinthesun.'; 'The fact that Sally can’t/won’t go up the staircase doesn’t bode well for this property does it #aplaceinthesun.';

'I think that "a tricky search" is a bit of an understatement, Laura. #aplaceinthesun'; 'If she's so scared of heights how did she manage to stand on the balcony #aplaceinthesun.'

It comes after fans of the show raged 'I wasted a whole hour' earlier this month as they sunk their claws into the new Channel 4 series - fuming 'it can only get better'.

Host Laura was on her next house hunt to help assist couple Fran and Noel with their perfect holiday retreat in Andalucia in Spain.

The couple were looking for a property with at least two bedrooms with a scenic view for a budget of £100,000.

But the first issue arose when they didn't like the small size and peculiar layout of the first home.

A disgruntled Fran told Laura: 'It's too dark for me and too enclosed.'

Noel added: 'The bathroom - I wouldn't be happy with that... Having a bathroom so close to a kitchen.'

Fran then said: 'I think about the bedrooms if I wanted to get up in the night and go to the loo I've got to come all the way down here. It's not feasible when I'm half asleep.'

They didn't like the second one either - a three-bedroom house in Cútar situated near Málaga.

The second property's location did not suit their expectations while the third was in a 'dilapidated' area.

Channel 4 viewers were left less than impressed with the show as they said it was a 'waste of a whole hour'

Noel said of the third house: 'It doesn't have the kerb appeal that I was hoping for.'

After all the viewings they said the best out of them was the second property even though they weren't completely sold on the location.

While not choosing to buy any of the three they did say at the end that they now feel more 'confident' of the area they'd like to eventually purchase in.

Channel 4 viewers were left less than impressed with the show as they said it was a 'waste of a whole hour'.

They penned on X: 'Wasted a whole hour of my life watching this.',

'This week can only get better after that waste of an hour!',

'Let's hope they NEVER repeat this one.',

'P**s poor first episode of the new series. Must try harder.'

A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 and is available to stream on 4OD.
