Adam made a stop to the popular chat show, to discuss the bands nerve-wracking decision to be the first to play the brand new Sphere venue in Las Vegas.

Before telling the story, the 64-year-old acknowledged that they had invited Samantha to one of the sold-out nights at the Sphere.

Patrick joked: "Did you get that invite Graham to the Sphere?"

Graham replied: "No, no I didn't get an invite."

Adam defended the decision by saying Samantha was a "loyal customer."

Patrick then asked the rocker what it was like to be the first band to play the Sphere.

Adam said: "It was kind of nerve-wracking, because we signed up for it and it looked like the Death-Star.

"You know it wasn't built, we didn't know how the tech worked and we had to design a show to go into this building.

"We agreed to it because we thought the tech was interesting and it's great to be the first in. So we rehearsed and built the show outside of the building and turned up day one, did a couple of rehearsals and said, 'I don't know if this is going to work, but let's go'."

Adam went on to explain how that eventual first show went: "We did our first show and everybody kind of looked and they didn't really know what to do.

"But after two or three shows, it just ran on its own steam. People knew what the show was about and reacted... it was fantastic."

Adam also told Patrick that the band didn't spend all their time in Vegas.

The foursome got to "split their time" between Vegas and Los Angeles as, The Edge, David Howell Evans, has family in LA as does Bono.

Adam added: "It was nice getting to see them all."

After the interview fans flocked to social media to praise Adam for his honesty and his fashion sense.

Carmel wrote: "Is there anyone nicer than Adam Clayton? What a gorgeous man!"

Another fan added: "He really was a delight. Impressed me greatly!!

Niall said: "I want Adam Clayton’s shirt! No idea where I would wear it - but it’s very rock star! Glittery."

Conor remarked: "How do I get Adam Clayton's shirt? Well, cool."
