U2's Adam Clayton And Wife Mariana Are Getting A Divorce
U2's Adam Clayton and wife Mariana announce divorce after 10 years of marriage
U2 bassist Adam Clayton and his wife Mariana Teixeira De Carvalho have announced they are getting a divorce.
Adam, 64, and his Brazilian partner, 45, share one six-year-old daughter together, Alba, who was born in 2017.
The couple announced their split, saying they would be divorcing 'amicably' and would continue to co-parent their daughter.
A spokesperson told the Sunday World: 'After more than 10 years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have amicably divorced.
'Both will continue to be fully involved in the care of their daughter and they request that the family’s privacy be respected.'
The news comes shortly after U2 wrapped up a 40-night residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas last month.
Adam and Mariana have been married for 10 years after they tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in Dublin in September 2013.
They became parents to a baby girl in July 2017 and announced the happy news by taking out a personal ad in the Irish Times, which read: 'Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.'
The U2 guitarist owns the historic Danesmoate estate in south Dublin, but it’s believed he does not reside there all year round.
Adam had remained a confirmed bachelor until his marriage in 2013 at the age of 53. He was previously engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell for a few months but they split in 1994.
