Nicolas Kuhn got the ball rolling mid-way through January, with the former Germany Under-20 international joining from Rapid Vienna for a fee of £3 million.

On deadline day, Adam Idah became the only other arrival at Parkhead as he put pen to paper on a loan deal from Norwich City until the end of the season.

Given the famed number nine jersey, the Republic of Ireland international will help to cover Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh in the forward areas.

It is believed that the 22-year-old turned down interest from clubs in England and further afield to secure a move to the Scottish Premiership holders.

Being put through his paces right away, Celtic TV presenter Gerry McCulloch seemingly confirmed in Idah’s interview that he would go straight into the matchday squad for tomorrow’s clash against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Michael McGovern believes Adam Idah can blossom at Celtic

Former Celtic goalkeeper Michael McGovern is a previous teammate of Idah and believes that the Irishman can be an important contributor for the Hoops over the course of his loan spell.

Now at Livingston, the 39-year-old has indicated that ex-colleague is ‘full of potential’ and just needs a spark to ignite his promise, which could come at Parkhead, as he stated [Scottish Sun]: “Adam’s a player who’s full of potential.

“He’s strong and quick, he can finish and sometimes you would see glimpses of real quality from him. It’s probably fair to say he hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet, but he has so much to offer. There’s no doubt in my mind he can be a top player. I really hope he fulfils it now and that Celtic spark his career.”

He later added: “With Adam, if you can unlock all that potential you’ll have some player on your hands.

“He just needs a run of games and a bit of love, somebody to show a bit of faith in him. Once he gets his confidence up, which is a really big thing with Adam, he starts to fly.”

Adam Idah will be relied upon at Celtic

As we all know, Oh is still on international duty with South Korea at the AFC Asian Cup, signifying that Idah will get immediate opportunities to stake a claim for regular involvement.

In 2023/24, the Cork-born man has played 34 times across all competitions for Norwich City, registering seven goals and one assist [Transfermarkt].

For much of this campaign, Celtic striker Furuhashi has held the burden of leading the line for the Hoops and can’t do it alone for the remainder of proceedings.

Despite reservations from some, at least Rodgers has another option to choose from now that can add an extra layer of physicality alongside running power to help penetrate opposition backlines.

Idah will have a baptism of fire in a difficult triple-header away to Aberdeen, Hibernian and St Mirren and it will be intriguing to see how he fares in Rodgers’ system.
