On the night he made history as the first German-born footballer to score a hat-trick in a UEFA Champions League match, Karim Adeyemi made sure to remind everyone of his roots.

Adeyemi showed up for Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night in the UCL as they routed Scottish champions, Celtic at the Signal Iduna Park.

The 22 year-old went off like a Hunter on Open season, he couldn’t miss, and inside thirty-one minutes, he put three goals past Kasper Schmeichel.

Despite the agony of having his night abruptly ended due to an injury, Adeyemi had stole the show.

According to the stattos, the boy-wonder etched his name in German football folklore, becoming the first player under the age of 23 to score 10 UCL goals.

During his post match interview with the CBS Sports studios, Karim Adeyemi, was asked about his goals.

However, difficulties with the communication gadgets interrupted the interview. He clarified, “My English is perfect. I’m a Nigerian guy so I understand”, when asked if he’d rather speak Dutch because the studio Presenters assumed he had difficulties with their line of questions asked in English.

Karim Adeyemi in that moment elevated his roots – on October 1, Nigeria’s independence day – and surely his father, “Abbey” who is from Oyo State, South West Nigeria, must have felt proud.
