Pilots voted in favour of industrial action last week by electronic ballot.

Paper voting will finish up this morning by pilots in Aer Lingus over whether to strike.

Last week, pilots voted in favour of industrial action through an e-ballot, but the Airline raised questions about the results.

97.7% of them agreed on strike action last week, and now they're expecting today's vote to mirror that result.

Travel journalist Eoghan Corry says he expects the same:

"IALPA are very disciplined, they tend to do what the executive instructs them [to]."

"It'll be in the 90% [region], that's what we saw in the e-vote. The real thing here is, we're not even in the ring yet on this dispute. We're going through the weigh-in, where both sides are sizing each other up," he added.

The company has asked the pilots union IALPA to give 15 days notice of any planned strike action.

As a result, passengers could be facing an anxious wait about their summer plans, with results of the ballots expected later today.
