A Luton Town fan appeared to aim a punch at Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo in footage from Sunderland's loss in the Championship play-offs.
The 20-year-old winger was unable to help the Black Cats avoid a 2-0 defeat at Kenilworth Road last night (May 16), which saw them lose 3-2 on aggregate.
Not only did he have to cope with the anguish of missing out on a trip to Wembley, but he was also dealt a blow in the back by one home supporter. Amad had gone to get the ball for a throw-in when the fan in question reached out and appeared to connect with a punch to Diallo's back.

He turned around and held out his arms to look at the referee in dismay, but no action was taken during the game. A Luton spokesman said: "Luton Town is aware of an incident involving a home spectator and a Sunderland player during last night's Championship play-off semi-final at Kenilworth Road.
"A lengthy club ban will be immediately issued and the incident is now also subject to a police investigation. Luton Town wishes to clarify that any such supporter behaviour is not acceptable in any way and will take swift, appropriate action to ensure that similar actions do not happen again. No further comment will be made by the club at this time."
What should United do with Amad next season? Let us know in the comments section below
Amad confirmed post-match that he'll be heading back to United as planned now his loan deal has expired.
Replying to one fan on social media, he wrote: "I have loved every moment here in Sunderland, I wish you well and will support you for the rest of my life... thanks."
And he then addressed all his followers with a post of his own which read: "Hi guys, I know you are sad, we all are.
"A group of young guys who fought until the last minute, I can only be proud to have been part of this team.
"No regrets just proud of what each of us has become over the course of the season. Thank you for the love. HAWAY THE LADS."
After a disappointing loan spell with Rangers for the second half of the 2021/22 season, Amad has excelled in the Championship this year. He scored 14 goals in 39 appearances.
One of those, a stunning free-kick, came in the first leg against Luton to give Sunderland a 2-1 advantage. He's played just nine times for the Red Devils first team since joining in a deal worth £37.2m from Atalanta.
