Elaine Porter revealed she experienced a miscarriage in response to an unhinged comment by Donald Trump's VP JD Vance

On Friday afternoon, Ireland and Leinster rugby star Andrew Porter shared a post Instagram in which he praised his wife's "braveness and strength.'

He said: "So proud of my wife @elainecporter for being so open about our recent miscarriage.

"Her braveness and strength through these tough last few weeks has astounded me.

"Not something I would usually share on this platform about our private life. But as we now know it is something very common and affects so many people.

"Certain life events like this are distressing and can have huge toll on mental health. But we are staying positive for what lies ahead in our future together.

"For anyone else going through this, remember you are not alone and things will get better."

Far-right Republican Vance provoked fury in 2021 by labelling women like Kamala Harris as 'childless cat ladies'.

Speaking to controversial former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, three years ago, Vance remarked: "We're effectively run in this country... by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too."

Elaine responded to his sickening comments on Instagram, revealing that she had experienced a miscarriage.

She said: "As someone who has experienced a miscarriage this is absolutely disgusting, women are SO much more than their ability to give birth.

"Vile."

In a follow-up post she thanked everyone who reached out to show sympathy and solidarity for sharing such a harrowing ordeal in order to underline her point that men such as Vance should have no say in what women choose to do around pregnancy and abortion.

She said: "Thank you for so much love on my story.

"Sharing that I’ve had a miscarriage is absolutely never something I thought I’d share on my Instagram.

"But I thought it was so important to speak out against small-minded men who think they have a say on women’s bodies and choices.

"So many messages coming through of people in similar positions and I’m so sorry to anyone who has experienced the same, sending love."

Vance's remarks resurfaced amid him being hoisted up to the role of Vice-President should Trump be re-elected when America goes to the polls in November.

Friends actress Jennifer Aniston shared the offending clip while decrying how he could soon be ascending to the second-in-command of US politics.

She said: "I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States.

"All I can say is… Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.

"I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option.

"Because you are trying to take that away from her, too."
