She fumed: "As someone who has experienced a miscarriage this is absolutely disgusting, women are SO much more than their ability to give birth. Vile."

In a follow-up post she thanked everyone who reached out to show sympathy and solidarity for sharing such a harrowing ordeal in order to underline her point that men such as Vance should have no say in what women choose to do around pregnancy and abortion.

She said: "Thank you for so much love on my story.

"Sharing that I’ve had a miscarriage is absolutely never something I thought I’d share on my Instagram.

"But I thought it was so important to speak out against small-minded men who think they have a say on women’s bodies and choices.

"So many messages coming through of people in similar positions and I’m so sorry to anyone who has experienced the same, sending love."

The quote in full was: "We're effectively run in this country... by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too."

She said: "I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States.

"All I can say is… Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.

"I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option.

"Because you are trying to take that away from her, too."

OBAMA ENDORSEMENT

Incumbent president Biden as well as his predecessor Barack Obama have thrown their support behind Harris to officially be named their party's new candidate.

Obama shared an X post where he and wife Michelle said Harris had their "full support," after not rushing to endorse her following Biden's announcement on Sunday that he would be ending his re-election campaign.

"Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris," the former president said.

"We told her we think she'll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support."

"She'd had a pretty busy couple of days, to say the least," the former president added, according to Axios.
