Liverpool isn't the only side bidding farewell to its manager on Sunday, with Feyenoord also saying goodbye to the man who is going to replace Jürgen Klopp.

Arne Slot has made no secret of his desire to take the Liverpool job and confirmed he was heading for Anfield when he faced the media on Friday. The Dutchman's final match in charge of Feyenoord was a big one too with Excelsior the visitors in the Rotterdam derby.

Ahead of kick-off at De Kuip, the home support paid tribute to its title-winning boss unveiling a huge banner depicting Slot alongside the words 'Walk on, Walk on'.

The message was a clear nod to his imminent move to Anfield with the words featuring in the lyrics to Liverpool's iconic You'll Never Walk Alone anthem. Slot gave his nod of approval to the banner during his pre-match interview.

He laughed with ESPN: "I think it turned out well, yes. Sometimes my head is a little bit too big but this time it is right!"

Feyenoord had earlier posted a montage clip on social media of Slot's tenure, thanking him for his work with the club. The emotional video included the narration: "Every beginning has an end. Every end has a beginning. But the memories we made, they will last. Forever.

"We stood strong in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, at Europe's highest stage. We received compliments and won prizes. Now we are letting you go, Arne. With pride, we will build on the foundation you laid.

"Thank you for everything. For winning the league and the cup, thanks for the football, for the memories. Walk on coach, with us in your heart."

The clip then ended by the narrator saying "but remember one thing" before You'll Never Walk Alone was played, as Slot stood alongside the silverware he has won at Feyenoord.

Liverpool could confirm Slot's appointment as early as next week. A compensation package has already been agreed between the Reds and Feyenoord, with both clubs keen to end the season before makin any announcement.

Liverpool.com: Slot's imminent appointment at Liverpool is the worst kept secret in football. Feyenoord has confirmed he is leaving so all that is left is an announcement from Anfield. He is adored by those in Rotterdam and will hope to enjoy the same relationship when he starts life in the Liverpool dugout this summer.
