Aubreigh Wyatt was an 8th-grade student at Ocean Springs Middle School. Her loved ones described her as a "straight A student," with a passion for gymnastics, TikTok, and spending time at the beach. However, Aubreigh was reportedly subjected to relentless bullying over several years. The culprits were primarily a small group of peers, both at school and on social media platforms.

Aubreigh died by suicide on September 4, 2023. The circumstances surrounding her death have since prompted both criminal and civil investigations. Reports indicate that Aubreigh's mother, Heather Wyatt, found her daughter's lifeless body in her room. The incident took place on Labor Day morning.

Heather Wyatt is a teacher herself. She has since become a vocal advocate against bullying. She uses platforms like TikTok and Instagram to share Aubreigh's story and raise awareness about the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying among teenagers. She has also established the Aubreigh Wyatt Foundation. Her aim is to support programs for teen suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Legal action is also underway, spearheaded by the Davis & Crump law firm. Investigations into potential liability in Aubreigh's death are ongoing. Attorney Trevor Rockstad labelled the severity of the harassment Aubreigh endured as "horrific." He also pointed at their intent to hold responsible parties accountable through litigation.

On the other hand, the Ocean Springs Police Department is conducting a parallel investigation. Aubreigh's phone records are being looked into, and evidence is being gathered pertaining to the circumstances leading up to her suicide.

In response to inquiries about the school's handling of bullying incidents, Ocean Springs School District Superintendent Mike Lindsey opened up. He expressed condolences to the Wyatt family and reiterated the district's commitment to student well-being and safety. Memorials for Aubreigh have been permitted within school guidelines to honor her memory.
