Appointment to the Voluntary Health Insurance Board - 13 June 2023
Following a Public Appointments Service campaign, and with approval by the Central Bank of Ireland, the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed Mr. Gregory Sparks as Chairperson to the Voluntary Health Insurance Board with effect from 27 February 2023 until 8 December 2026.
Mr. Sparks is a former partner of RSM Farrell Grant Sparks. He has held a number of Board appointments in the private sector, both domestically and internationally, in a diverse range of areas including the health, media and communications, and non-profit sectors, providing valuable experience in financial corporate responsibility. He has served on the Boards of the Irish Times, Digicel and Eircom, and he chaired the Coombe Hospital for a number of years.
His principal career has been as a chartered accountant in practice. In addition, he has experience within the health sector as a health service provider.
During his term on the Vhi Board to date, Mr. Sparks has been a very active and engaged member of the Board and has contributed very effectively to the work of the Board and its committees. Specifically, he has chaired the Audit Committee and, in 2018, was appointed by the Board as Chair of the Health & Wellbeing subsidiary, supporting the organisation in the development of its strategic plan.
