Beaumont Hospital staff came to the rescue after a fire broke out this morning.

The fire reportedly happened in the Hospital's A&E department. Dublin Fire Brigade firefighters rushed to the scene after an emergency call came in around 7am this morning.

Upon their arrival, brave staff had the blaze under control. DFB officers in breathing apparatus were able to use positive pressure fans to ventilate smoke out of the area.

The incident was cleared within the hour, and normal service had resumed by 8am. A DFB spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Dublin Fire Brigade was called at 0700 hrs this morning to reports of a fire in Beaumont Hospital.

"On the arrival of firefighters, hospital staff had extinguished a fire and crews in breathing apparatus used positive pressure fans to ventilate the area of smoke. The incident was concluded by 0800 with all Dublin Fire Brigade resources leaving the scene."

A Beaumont Hospital said: “An unanticipated incident occurred in Beaumont Hospitals’ Emergency Department at circa 06:45 this morning which gave rise to a temporary suspension of on-call services as a necessary contingency measure. The Hospital is pleased to advise that the incident has been safely managed with services resuming as normal from 10am.

"Beaumont Hospital would like to convey it’s thanks to the public and affiliate hospital sites for their co-operation and understanding."
