What's in a name

I'm enjoying the addition of the name badges this year. Well, I'm enjoying the fact everyone is ignoring them.

"What's your name," they've all been asking, as a new housemate arrives in the BB compound.

They're wearing A NAME BADGE. D'oh!

Too much

Daze says she is feeling "overwhelmed" and has opted to sip on an orange juice to calm her nerves.

She seems quite sweet. In fact, they're all being nice so far.

I'm just not certain Nathan - aka Farage Fan - will get on with Daze when she tells him she's a climate activist, though. Eek.

In a Daze

And here we have another housemate - activist Dave.

Daze would happily glue herself to the road in aid of climate action and she lives 'in a community on the canal'.

She's going to get on really well with Nathan. NOT.

Royal connections

Anyone else wondering how someone can go from working as a butler to the King, to working as a 'pork salesman'?

Hopefully someone will ask Nathan to explain his CV as I'm very intrigued by the career jump.

Porky pies

And here we have housemates Number 4; Nathan.

He's a 24-year-old Tory boy who works as a pork salesman. Who knew there was such a meat specific job out there?

Nathan is a big fan of Nigel Farage. No doubt they'll put a raving Leftie in there too.

Looking good

Can we just take a moment to appreciate our gorgeous Big Brother hosts AJ and Will.

They're both looking stunning in sophisticated black ensembles.

Plus, I'm here for the razzle dazzle detailing too.

It's good to have you back, guys!

Old friends?

"It's you!" Segun just shouted, like he already knows both Emma and Rosie.

Hmm, I thought these guys and girls are kept in solitary confinement before their Big Brother entrance.

Interesting...

Toilet time

Quick, Emma needs the toilet and she's got no idea where in the house it is.

No time for that - here's housemate number three!

"I'm going to miss mummy, but hopefully I'll find another mummy in there," he said. Err okay.

Looking good

Emma is 53 and looks fabulous for her age.

Then she reveals she works in aesthetics. Makes sense now.

And there is her "little girl" waving in the crowd. Who is actually 24 years old.

Housemate one

Welcome, Rosie!

So here we have out first housemate of 2024...and she is a bit screamy!

She's already dropped the S-bomb and has only been in the house for about five seconds.

I think Rosie wants to be an actress...

Big Twist

AJ and Will have just revealed that the BB housemates have a big decision to make tonight.

It wouldn't be launch night without a big twist though, would it?

Let's go!

Ready? Let's go!

Can't wait to meet this year's 16 housemates. Woo!

Is Will Best married?

In July 2024, Will finally popped the question to his long term girlfriend, Tobi Rose.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said that the pair “couldn't be happier” to be engaged.

They added: “Naturally they are both overjoyed and can’t wait to celebrate making it down the aisle.

“There are no plans locked in at the moment.”

“Due to both of their jobs they have a lot of celebrity pals - even if they don’t mix in so-called celebrity circles so the guest list will be impressive.”

The TV star has been with his girlfriend since 2010.

The pair live together and share an adorable pet dog.

On their anniversary Will shared an sweet snap of the pair of them to celebrate a big milestone.

He wrote next to it: "12 years ago today I met this truly one in a 7.88 billion human being.

"She was even my first ever insta post. And if you scroll right you’ll see that, as well as being the love of my life, she’s also frighteningly true to her word."

What TV shows has AJ Odudu appeared on?

AJ's first presenting role was in 2009 on BBC Two's The Almost Perfect Guide to Life.

In 2013, she joined Emma Willis and Rylan Clark on Big Brother's Bit On The Side, as well as Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Psych.

She also presented on The Hot Desk from 2015 to 2016, and Manhunting With My Mum in 2018.

In 2020, she appeared in The Chase: Celebrity Special, Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Richard Osman's House of Games and Don't Rock The Boat.

In 2021, AJ hosted Apocalypse Wow on ITV2 and a revamp of The Big Breakfast on Channel 4.

AJ made it to the final of Strictly Come Dancing in the same year, and was tipped to win the show.

However, she had to pull out of the final after suffering a nasty ankle injury that left her on crutches and unable to dance.

She announced her withdrawal from the competition on December 17, 2021, after she was pictured hobbling to her last rehearsal.

She said: “I’m deeply upset that I am unable to perform in the final due to a torn ligament in my right ankle.

"Learning to dance over the last 13 weeks has been an incredible honour and to do it alongside someone as special, patient and devoted as Kai [Widdrington] is something I’ll treasure forever."

In 2022, she was brought in as the presenter of The Bridge, alongside adventurer Aldo Kane, and she hosted the revamped Big Breakfast with Mo Gilligan.

In October 2022, she hosted E4's The Big Blow Out.

She also appeared alongside Rylan Clark when they hosted the Eurovision Handover and Allocation Draw.

AJ also took part in The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2023 alongside Jesy Nelson and Paddy McGuinness, to name a few.

Is AJ Odudu married?

AJ isn't married, and is a single lady.

In December 2021, there were rumours when she was on Strictly that she was dating her dance partner Kai Widdrington.

When quizzed on Strictly: It Takes Two, the duo laughed and appeared awkward, before Kai explained: "Well, look. We said this right, and I said this to [AJ], if people react like this then it means we are doing something right, because that is the way the dance should be danced."

He went on to say they wanted to do the "passionate, fiery and intimate" dance justice.

Launch night switch up

Unlike last year, fans will be delighted to learn the launch night show will not be pre-recorded. Viewers were disappointed by the missing live element which always adds excitement to proceedings.

The much-loved show has already provided viewers with drama and presenter Will Best has revealed he and AJ Odudu are facing pre-launch show chaos.

The hosting duo are hoping to kick off Sunday's live show with a bang, but they are both facing obstacles ahead of filming.

Will explained the nightmare on Capital Breakfast: "I’ve got a stiff neck. It’s a bit better today, yesterday was bad, I’ve got an emergency physio in a couple of hours after this.

"It’s always good to just before the biggest show of the year, when you’re going to be live for six weeks, with all kinds of mad stuff, to not be able to move."

Speaking on behalf of his TV sidekick, he said: "AJ’s lost her voice as well. I saw her yesterday, we did a podcast record.

"That’s why she’s not doing radio today!"

Fans criticise Joey Essex inclusion

In August Joey insisted he was done with reality television for the foreseeable future after his stint in the Love Island villa.

But now the Mirror is reporting that Joey will feature in Big Brother, which begins on ITV tonight.

A source said: "Joey will absolutely appear in the new series, though he won't be a contestant.

"As a reality TV veteran he is the perfect person to present to the housemates - he knows exactly what they will be feeling so he will be a real asset to the series.

"His full involvement is shrouded in secrecy but he made such brilliant telly on Love Island, ITV bosses are thrilled he is taking part."

One person wrote on X: "Enough! Can I watch a programme without him popping up!!?"

Another said: "don't want it #BBUK.', 'This series will be dead before it starts then."

A third posted: "This... better be fake."

Who is Big Brother's narrator Marcus Bentley?

Marcus Bentley is the voice you hear on Big Brother saying words like, "Day 13 in the Big Brother house..."

Thanks to this he is one of the most famous voices in British television.

Marcus has narrated every episode of Big Brother since 2000, even following the show to Channel 5 after it was axed from Channel 4, and also to its new home on ITV2.

He also narrated every series of Celebrity Big Brother.

Many fans believed that Marcus had been axed from the reboot on ITV, but it turned out their fears were premature, as he is still the narrator, and not the voice of the diary room.

Marcus told his followers on X: "Listen guys I’ve had a lot of this tonight - but just to reiterate, for some who think I wasn’t on the show this evening - I am not the voice of the diary room Big Brother - never have been.

"I’m the narrator of the show and I was narrating the show when all the housemates had entered."

Where is the Big Brother 2024 house?

When the show began at the turn of the century, Big Brother was famously located at 3 Mills Studios in Bow, London for one year.

Big Brother moved to Elstree Studios in 2001, but the house was eventually demolished after the final series in 2018.

Filming will now take place at Garden Studios, which is a newly-built studio in West London.

In line with the new logo, the property has been given a colourful makeover.

The renovations made to the property include a huge new extension to expand the garden area that showcases a luxury hot tub area.

But that's not the only thing set to change in the property.

The producers have hinted that there will be new tougher tasks to look forward to in the new series.

Speaking to The Sun, host Will shared his excitement about the upcoming tasks, stating: "I'm excited about the tasks, I think the tasks this year, maybe some learning not learning as that makes it sound like there were things that could have been better as the tasks were phenomenal last series."

The new location was first revealed in the first episode of BB's return on October 8, 2023.

Who is AJ Odudu?

AJ Odudu was born Onatejiro Odudu on February 12, 1988.

She was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, to Nigerian parents and is one of eight children.

AJ graduated from Keele University with a degree in English and politics and then started her career as a reporter for BBC Blast at Radio Lancashire.

Her first presenting role was in 2009 on BBC Two's The Almost Perfect Guide to Life.

Who is Will Best?

Will Best was born in London on February 21, 1985, but raised in the market town of Tadcaster in Leeds.

He is a television presenter and entrepreneur.

The talented star has worked for all the big broadcasters, including Channel 4, ITV and the BBC.

He is also the co-founder of audiosplitter.fm.

The budding entrepreneur launched the electronic music sharing site in 2015.

In 2017, Will and his friend Henry Farnham set up a drinks company, Bloody Drinks, specialising in canned Bloody Mary cocktails.

It’s even stocked in Waitrose, Sainsbury's, and a host of other shops and bars across the UK.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company landed commercial deals with several major retailers, including Selfridges.

It has since grown significantly, with an on-trade specific product launching in summer 2023 to take the brand into pub and restaurant chains.

Who will host Big Brother 2024?

AJ Odudu and Will Best will host the live launch on Sunday, October 6th on ITV2 and ITVX.

It marks a change from the Big Brother 2023 launch, which was completely pre-recorded.

Are Big Brother contestants paid?

The Big Brother housemates do indeed get paid for appearing on the show.

The exact amount that ITV pays their contestants, has been kept a secret.

But we do know that Channel 5 paid their housemates £50 a day.

Big Brother 15 star Mark Byron said the showrunners help housemates by offering a small cash sum to tie them over with bills in the outside world while they're in the house.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo he said: "They give you a little bit to help you, they do give you a subsidy.

"I think, when I was on, it was only something like £50. It's not a lot but they do help you.

"It was like £50 for every day you're in there which isn't a lot but if you're in there for 13 weeks it soon adds up."

In the US, housemates are reportedly paid $1k each week, which amounts to £819 - so there is a big difference.

However the housemate who walks out the winner is in for a BIG payday.

The prize money for winning Big Brother UK is a whopping £100,000, but there is no cash prize on Celebrity Big Brother.

Instead, celebs are paid to appear on the show - and it's a lot more than their non-famous counterparts.

David Gest and Katie Price are among the highest paid celebrity contestants to ever appear on the show.

Katie was reportedly paid a fee of £500,000 to appear.
