Blake Lively Issues Apology Over Kate Middleton Joke
Blake Lively had her tail tucked between her legs as she issued a groveling apology to Kate Middleton.
The actress, 36, was slated by fans after taking aim at the Princess of Wales' photo-editing controversy. At the time, she joked: 'I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products! Now you know why I’ve been MIA.'
The ill-informed joke came just days before Kate was forced to confess she had been diagnosed with cancer and is now undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
In a statement shared on social media, Blake wrote: 'I'm sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the 'photoshop fails' frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today.'
'I'm sorry,' she concluded. 'Sending love and well wishes to you all, always.'
On Friday, Kate shocked the world upon revealing she had been diagnosed with cancer.
The news came after days of speculation about the Princess Of Wales' health which has seen a flurry of wild conspiracy theories shared online.
In a video message, Kate admitted: 'It's been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me for which I am so grateful.'
'In January I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought my condition was non-cancerous. The operation was successful but tests after found cancer was present.'
'My medical team advised I underwent a preventative course of chemotherapy and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment,' the Princess of Wales continued. 'This came as a huge shock to myself and William and we have been doing everything we can to process this privately for the sake of our young family.'
Kate later went on to explain how they've approached her diagnosis with their three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Princes Louis, stating their main goal is 'to reassure them.'
'As I've said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirit,' Kate said.
Giving credit to her husband, she continued: 'Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness being shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.'
'We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back but now I must focus on my recovery,' she concluded.
Kate's cancer diagnosis marks the third the Royal family has seen in recent months. In January, within just days of one another, it was announced that King Charles and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York had also been diagnosed with cancer.
Through an undeniably tough time, William is showing incredible strength in the face of this strain of his extended family.
