Brazilian Day celebrations to bring the spirit of Rio this summer

LIMERICK will once again be awash with colour as the second annual Brazilian Day celebrations take place across the Treaty City.

Next month, the Hunt Museum Garden will once again be filled with the sights and sounds of Brazil as the local community come together to celebrate Brazilian culture.

Representatives from the Brazilian Embassy will be on hand to kick off events on July 20, where attendees will be treated to traditional Brazilian music, food, and cultural celebrations.

As well as the traditional music of Brazil, Brazilian dance will also be showcased and celebrated, as well as interactive activities to entertain and educate.

Building off the success of last year’s inaugural Brazilian Day, this year’s event will be bigger, with more exhibitors and more chances to embrace the culture of the South American country.

The day is also an opportunity for the Brazilian community in Limerick to make new friends and strengthen the ties amongst the Brazilian community in the Treaty County.

Earlier this year, the South American community in Limerick came out in force onto the city streets after a Brazilian man was attacked in an alleged racially-motivated crime, showing solidarity and calling for kinship from the people of Limerick.

Organisers say Brazil Day is open to all, whether you’re a member of Limerick’s large Brazilian community or just want to learn more about the culture and environment of Brazil.

The festivities will take place in the Hunt Museum Garden on July 20 from 10am to 5pm.
