Bruce Springsteen has confirmed a return to Ireland for a series of gigs in May 2024, with tickets on sale this coming Monday.

Springsteen will play at Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park, Cork’s Páirc Uí Caoimh and Dublin’s Croke Park on May 12, 16 and 19 respectively.

He will play in Belfast on May 9.

Tickets are set to go on sale on Monday, November 6 at 8am on Ticketmaster.

As previously reported by the Irish Independent, the Boss will include the Irish dates as part of his European Stadium Tour in 2024.

It will mark a hectic 2024 concert season for Ireland with sell-out concerts by Taylor Swift and Coldplay already announced for the capital.

It is understood that negotiations are under way for another Slane Castle concert after the success of the Harry Styles gig at the famous Meath venue last June.

The major series of concerts have been hailed as a strategic boost for the Irish tourist season, with hotel bookings already rocketing in Dublin around the Swift concerts at the Aviva and the Coldplay gigs at Croke Park.

The Boss played two concerts at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny in 2013 as part of a ‘Springsteen Weekender’ – and the star was said to have loved both the atmosphere and the venue.

He also played Cork in 2013 but the concert was at the old Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium.

The new Cork stadium has since been lavishly refurbished and specially designed to facilitate the staging of concerts with enhanced catering and support facilities.

Ed Sheeran, Elton John and Rod Stewart have all played at the revamped stadium.

The New Jersey rocker played three sell-out concerts in the RDS last May as the second gigs of his European tour, with many fans saying they were among the finest performances of the entire tour.

Demand for tickets was such that two further RDS gigs would have sold-out.

It was the first concert series in Ireland by The Boss since his two Croke Park performances in 2016 as part of the hit The River tour.

The Boss and the E Street Band hit headlines in September after postponing the remainder of his 2023 tour due to doctor’s advice.

A press release said he is “steadily recovering” from peptic ulcer disease.

"Out of an abundance of caution,” the remainder of this year's tour has been pushed to next year, it said.

Those postponed shows included stops in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Albany and Syracuse in New York, Pittsburgh, Washington, and shows in Connecticut and Ohio, and Canadian dates and a West Coast run of Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Peptic ulcer disease can be dangerous, leading to bleeding and emergency situations such as perforation of the ulcer through the stomach. Typical treatment uses common drugs called proton pump inhibitors, such as Prilosec, which can help heal the ulcers within four to six weeks. People who are treated “recover completely from peptic ulcer disease,” Dr. Lawrence Kosinski of the American Gastroenterological Association said.

“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support," Springsteen said in a short statement. "I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
