Kilkenny was awash with Stars and Stripes as the legendary rock singer Bruce Springsteen came to town on Sunday evening.

Playing the second of his four Irish gigs at Nowlan Park on a sunny Sunday evening, Springsteen-fever took over Kilkenny with fans from all corners of the country, and further afield, turning out to watch the Boss's return to Kilkenny 11 years after his last appearance.

No stranger to getting out amongst his fans, The Boss climbed into the crowd on the pitch and casually leaned on the barrier as he took in his acclaimed E Street Band performing to the masses.

Perching himself at the front of the barrier, Springsteen took a brief few moments to catch his own show from a different perspective with adoring fans clambering for a piece of the music legend, including a young blonde woman who affectionately threw her arm around him.

When it came to returning to the stage, Springsteen exclaimed, "I think I'm stuck!" to a delighted laugh from the crowd.

"Right, give me a hand kids," he continued before being helped over the barrier by security personnel and continuing the show.

Following gigs in Belfast on Thursday and Kilkenny on Sunday, Springsteen has two more Irish gigs to come in Pairc Ui Chaoimh this Thursday before rounding out his Irish performances on Sunday at Croke Park.
