Celtic have emerged as bookies favourites to sign Caoimhin Kelleher if he decides to leave Liverpool this summer.

The Irish shot-stopper has played second fiddle to Alisson Becker at Liverpool for years but tends to excel when given the chance and has been in fine form in recent weeks filling in for the injured Brazilian.

Fresh from his star performance in last Sunday's EFL Cup win at Wembley, speculation is rife that the 25-year-old will quit Liverpool this summer and strike out on his own as a number one at another club.

Celtic are favourites to secure the signature of the Corkman and have been priced at 9/4 according to safebettingsites.com. The Scottish Champions will be on the hunt for a new number one at the end of the season given incumbent Joe Hart's impending retirement.

Nottingham Forest are second favourites at 3/1 to snap up the 11-time capped Irishman. It's understood that Forest have been admirers of Kelleher for a long time and had a bid in the region of £15 million rejected last summer.

Kelleher has kept quiet on his future in recent months and has yet to indicate whether he is leaning towards staying or going. Former Ireland captain Richard Dunne has weighed in on the situation this week.

He told betideas: “It's a really tough question because Kelleher is 25 years old and played less than 50 senior games.

“He always performs whenever he plays for both club and country and you’d think he should play more, but he’s won loads of trophies with Liverpool and is second in line at one of the best clubs in the world.

“It’s easy for us to look in from the outside and say that he should leave, but when you’re playing with some of the best players in the world it’s not as easy as just moving on.

“Over time, I think he’ll get his fair share of games in the domestic cup competitions that he might be happy with it.

“As long as he keeps his sharpness and it doesn’t take him two or three games to get up and running then I think he can have a wonderful career there.

“If he really wants to move out and test himself then there will be plenty of clubs that want to sign him, but I wouldn’t be screaming for him to leave because I think he’s in a really good place at Liverpool.”
