TV legend Carol Vorderman was clearly delighted after she discovered that an 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant considers her their crush. In the episode aired on Tuesday, camp excitement peaked when eight competitors received their luxury items, with one gift particularly catching the audience's eye.
When Melvin Odoom opened his package to reveal a pillow displaying family snapshots alongside Countdown star Carol, he declared "My dad, my mum and Carol Vorderman. My crush," as he showed off his unusual item and went on to express his affection for Carol in the Bush Telegraph.
Melvin said: "I have been a fan of Carol Vorderman for a very long time, in fact I have a little rap," and then recited, "I know a woman so fine, she's mature like a fine wine. The mandem can't comprehend my 10 out of 10 Carol Vorderman, woo I wanna work her out, check your DMs girl and I'll be waiting." Having braved the jungle herself, Carol, speaking on 'I'm a Celebrity... Unpacked', responded warmly to Melvin's endearing homage and gift, as reported by OK!, reports Wales Online.
Carol, aged 63, sent a cheeky voice message to Melvin, aged 44, affirming her support: "Melvin, I'm blushing redder than that leather red dress I'm wearing on your pillowcase. But I'll be rooting for you all the way through, and see you on the other side," she said.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! fans were left speechless by Melvin's bizarre luxury item - a pillow with a picture of Carol Vorderman on it. One fan tweeted: "I didn't think a luxury item would beat the Jane McDonald photo but Melvin and his Carol Vorderman pillow has officially taken the top spot. #ImACeleb".
Another viewer joked: "Kind of obsessed with Melvin's cushion of his family and... Carol Vorderman. #ImACeleb,". A third fan wrote: "I think everyone collectively moved on too fast from melvin's personal item having pictures of his mum, dad, and CAROL VORDERMAN? ? ? ? ".
Some even called for a spin-off show featuring Melvin and Carol Vorderman, with one fan suggesting: "God I hope they do get Carol Vorderman to meet Melvin ODoom on the bridge now. In other jungle news, Tulisa and Alan Halsall handed out tasks to the campmates, with Danny Jones and Melvin taking on cooking duties, while Coleen Rooney and GK Barry did the washing up.
Jane Moore and Dean McCullough were in charge of keeping the camp tidy, and Barry McGuigan and Oti Mabuse were responsible for fetching water.
