Celtic vs Aberdeen

Celtic face Aberdeen this afternoon in a top of the table clash at Paradise. Jimmy Thelin’s side have also won all of their opening Premiership games but sit behind the Celts on goal difference. Since the Swede took over at Pittodrie, Aberdeen have impressed but it will be a real test of how far they’ve come against the Scottish Champions today.

Team News

Celtic are bolstered by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers. The central defender has trained and is in contention but it remains to be seen whether Brendan puts him in for the match. However, considering Auston Trusty arrived back on Thursday from USA duties, CCV might find himself starting.

Greg Taylor remains out with a calf strain meaning that Alex Valle will start at left back. You would expect that Rodgers will go with Valle, Scales, Trusty and Johnston with CCV coming on after an hour or so.

In midfield, the manager must decide on whether to go with Paulo Bernardo or Reo Hatate. Both were on international duty but you’d imagine that Hatate would get the nod to join Arne Engles and Callum McGregor.

The front three picks itself with Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn in the wide areas with Kyogo up front. Aberdeen like to play a high line, which means that the trio could do some damage if they’re given space.

Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Valle, Scales, Trusty, Johnston; McGregor, Hatate, Engels; Maeda, Kyogo, Kühn.

Match Officials

Nick Walsh has been named as the referee for the clash and the whistler will be assisted by David Roome and Dougie Potter.

Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Greg Aitken is on VAR duties with Jonathan Bell assisting.

Kick Off Time

The game kicks off at 3pm (Celtic Park Time).

Where to Watch

The game takes place in the traditional 3pm slot meaning that the only way to watch live in Britain and Ireland is at Celtic Park. Those outwith the region are able to watch on Celtic TV with coverage beginning at 2:30pm.
