The league flag will be raised by James Forrest ahead of kick-off after a remarkable Treble-winning season saw the Hoops win their second consecutive title before Ange Postecoglou made the move south to Spurs.

Saturday marks the second coming for Rodgers who won seven trophies out of seven and his new era begins with Ross County arriving to Glasgow.

Rodgers is back at the helm and has set his sights on a Treble after having 'unfinished business'. But he'll have to get off to a fast start and set the pace from day one with Celtic's new signings expected to hit the ground running.

It's not the easiest opener he could have wished for and he's been full of praise for the man in the opposing dugout. Malky Mackay has made eight signings at Ross County this summer and knows the pressure is off, relatively, with few expecting them to take anything from the champions on opening day.

What has been said

Brendan Rodgers has hailed the high standard of Cameron Carter-Vickers as the American’s Celtic partner Carl Starfelt attracts growing interest from England.

The USA international is set to figure in today’s Premiership opener against Ross County.

Rodgers said: “I’ve seen Cameron from afar, seen him play for Celtic a number of times, and was impressed. But to see him close up, he’s a very, very good player.

“He’d been out on the pitch for four to five weeks, not always with us. He’s still a wee bit behind, but he can get the fitness through games as well. He’s a naturally fit boy. He’s been very impressive since coming in."

Celtic captain Callum McGregor said he barely enjoyed a summer holiday at less than a fortnight but he returns with the same vigour as ever.

He said: “I think I had about 10 days off and that’s what it is more for, mentally switching off. To try and take yourself away from football.

“But, to be honest, after a few days, you are already thinking about the season ahead. You see things filtering out about how the club is progressing, signing players and things like that.

“You are never too far away from being on your phone and dealing with something, or thinking, ‘How can we be better, how can we implement something new that’s going to keep us ahead of the game?’”
