A woman has died and a man remains in hospital after being struck by a car which mounted the footpath on Saturday afternoon in Charleville, Co Cork.
Gardaí say they are investigating the crash which occurred shortly before 2pm on Main Street when a car hit the two pedestrians.
Emergency services arrived quickly, and both pedestrians—a woman in her 70s and a man in his 60s—were taken to Cork University Hospital.
The woman later died from her injuries, while the man is in stable condition.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Garda forensic teams have examined the scene, and a post-mortem for the woman will be arranged.
