Whites in Premier League Cup action.

Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League Cup action this week, as the Whites face Chelsea Under-21s at Kingsmeadow in West London (7pm).

Scott Gardner’s side have enjoyed their Premier League Cup campaign to date, having already qualified for the next round with two games to spare.

United’s three wins from four puts them comfortably in second place in Group D. Leeds completed the double over Colchester United Under-21s thanks to a 3-2 home victory, before Joe Snowdon’s last gasp winner on the road saw the side grab a 2-1 away win.

Goals from Charlie Allen, Luca Thomas, Sean McGurk and Lewis Bate helped the Whites register an emphatic 4-1 victory over Luton Town U21s, with the only blemish on the record to date coming when Chelsea U21s ran out 2-1 victors in the reverse fixture.

Last time out in league action, Gardner’s Whites fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sunderland U21s. Despite a much-improved second half, Thomas’ close-range finish wasn’t enough on the night to claw back the deficit.

Chelsea U21s meanwhile sit top of Group D with a perfect record to date, winning five from five and have likewise booked their place in the next round.

Last time out in the league proved to be an enjoyable afternoon for the Blues, coming from behind to beat Reading U21s 3-2 with a hat-trick from forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
