The Kansas City Chiefs showed more of their unique grit in the pouring rain at Arrowhead Stadium, coming back in the second half and overtime to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24. The defending champions were pushed to their limits again, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered an injury in the fourth quarter. Still, they gutted it out for the victory in the extra period, extending their undefeated record to 8-0.
DeAndre Hopkins ensured the fans in attendance got the full experience of what made him a five-time All-Pro in his career. The veteran wide receiver’s two touchdown receptions propelled Kansas City to their franchise-record fourteenth consecutive victory, as he has instant chemistry with Mahomes. Kareem Hunt’s toughness in rough conditions established him as the reliable veteran running back leading that group.
Chris Jones and the defensive line applied pressure when needed, stalling Tampa Bay until the late drive from Baker Mayfield to tie the game in regulation.
