Changes to social welfare payment dates are set to occur due to the festive season. Recipients have been advised to take note of these changes, which include some receiving their payments earlier than usual.
The Department of Social Protection has confirmed that there will be no alterations for payments due on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of December. However, payments scheduled for the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th of December will instead be made during the week commencing 16th December.
Payments due on 1st January 2025 will be processed on 31st December 2024. The change in payment dates over the Christmas and New Year period will also impact part-time, casual and short-time workers.
The Department stated: "If you are claiming on a casual basis: where dockets have been provided in advance, two payments covering the signing weeks ending 17th and 24th December (Jobseeker's Allowance), or 18th and 25th December (Jobseeker's Benefit) will be paid into accounts on 20th December.
"Normal payment arrangements for week ending 31st December and 1st January will resume on Tuesday, 7th January 2025. Illness Benefit customers: please continue to send in your 'Certificate of Incapacity for Work' over the Christmas and New Year period."
All Department of Social Protection offices, including Intreo Centres and Branch Offices, will be closed on 25th and 26th December 2024 and 1st January 2025.
In other social welfare news, the government has announced the end date for a much-appreciated €130 monthly allowance boost.
The 2024/2025 Fuel Allowance season kicked off on Monday, 23 September 2024 and is set to run for 28 weeks. The Fuel Allowance payment comprises of a weekly €33 over 28 weeks or two lump sum payments, totalling a handy €924.
