Two people have appeared before Wexford District Court in connection with the murder of Wexford man Stephen Ring (27).

Christopher Judge (41), with an address at Pairc na Dara, Clonard, Co Wexford, appeared before Judge John Cheatle charged with Mr Ring’s murder, while his associate Jane Corcoran (34) of the same Clonard address, was charged with aiding and abetting the commission of a criminal offence, namely murder, contrary to Section 7.2 of the Criminal Law Act 1997.

Mr Ring’s remains were found discarded at Carrigfoyle Quarry on Forth Mountain on Sunday morning.

The secluded area, a popular walking spot for families, is located just outside of Wexford town and less than 6km from where the 27-year-old was last seen alive, having been dropped to the entrance of a Clonard housing estate at 2am on October 15.

They were eventually led to the quarry, where a major search began in earnest on Saturday afternoon.

The entrance roads to and from the quarry were closed off, while gardaí began to comb the woods, walking trails and areas around the lake.

Eventually, the Wexford man’s body was discovered, sparking a murder investigation, and the two accused were quickly arrested and brought to Wexford Garda Station.

At Tuesday's court sitting, Det Garda Leonard Casey gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. Judge made no reply when charged at Wexford Garda Station. He was remanded in custody to appear at Wexford District Court on Monday, November 4, via video-link.

Barrister Ross O’Brien made an application for legal aid, which was granted. Given the severity of the charge, an application was also granted for one counsel in the case.

In relation to Corcoran, Det Garda Brian Cummins tendered evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
