Limerick supremo Cian Lynch hails 'best supporters in the world ...

LIMERICK’S Cian Lynch thanked the "best supporters in the world" before hoisting the Liam MacCarthy into the Dublin skyline this Sunday evening.

The Patrickswell man and his band of Limerick brothers blitzed Kilkenny in the second-half to make history with a nine-point victory.

Their fourth All-Ireland Final in-a-row was hard won, with team captain Declan Hannon and key defender Sean Finn on the sideline for the showpiece. 

Mr Consistency Hannon was on hand however, to hold one handle of the silverware making for a memorable photo at the podium in the Hogan Stand with his good friend Lynch.

“Looking down at this group of men in front of me, a panel of 37 lads, there has been a sheer honesty shown over the last number of years and months," said Lynch in a heart-felt speech that left no stone unturned in terms of paying tribute to everyone who played a part in their success. 

"I suppose from the outside in, we may look like a team, but we are a family. We stand by each other in the bad days and even more so the good days. I want to pay a special tribute to a few of our men that couldn’t play today due to injury.”

Sporting freshly-dyed blond locks The Well's Cú Chulainn kept the biggest tribute for last  - for team manager John Kiely.

“He is a spiritual guide, a spiritual leader. A man that has given all of us an opportunity over the last number of years. A man we all look to for guidance and support week in and week out, so John Kiely thanks a million," said Lynch
