Comeback kid

It was different emotions for Ryan Taylor this year having torn his cruciate ligament in this game twelve months ago.

He was sprung from the bench in the second half with his pace making a huge difference for Clare.

Man-of-the-match David McInerney says Clare's victory all about 'belief'

“We were in the same position last year, but we didn’t kick on in the end,” said the wing back on The Sunday Game.

“But I just felt there was a different sense about the team this time.

"We were all driving it on and it was about having that belief to get over the line.

“At half-time we re-assessed, we weren’t happy with where we were at. We sat down, chatted it out and we said to believe in ourselves and that we’d trust the process. Thankfully it got us over the line in the end.

“I’m Incredibly proud of all of our squad,” he concluded.

Brian Lohan says Clare could have taken off 'six or seven marquee' players at half-time

“Our lads are a tough bunch. After playing poorly in the first half, we just put it up to them," he said after Clare's two point win over Kilkenny.

"There could have been six or seven changes made at half-time but they really toughed it out.

“They showed a great bit of character and I’m really delighted for them.

“We’d spoken about what we wanted to do all week and the last two weeks in training had gone really well but just in the first half it didn’t happen and that was a breakdown on so many levels.

"At half-time, we could have easily taken off six or seven marquee guys but in fairness they did tough it out. We changed up one or two things. And I’m delighted for our supporters that came up here too.”

“We’ve got good players. Kilkenny were very good, but we were ordinary so that was really disappointing for our group, particularly considering what happened in the first half last year and the year before.

"We were lucky we had a second half to come and played a much better brand of hurling. We were much more committed and much more assured."

Clare have done it. They advance to the All-Ireland final. There were lots of nerves around Croke Park as Richie Reid lobbed a late free into the box but the ball broke and Clare won it.

Liam Gordon blows his final whistle and that is most that.

It was an incredible second half performance from them.

A huge score from Tony Kelly! The stands are almost shaking as he puts Clare two up.

Clare are in front.

Shane O'Donnell is fouled by Richie Reid and McCarthy is on fire with those frees. He slots it again.

Level game.

Mark Rodgers scores a brilliant point from distance as Clare continue to thunder into the game. The atmosphere is booming in Croke Park as the Clare fans make their voices heard.

One in it!

Aidan McCarthy nails another free after Ian Galvin was fouled to bring the gap back to one.

Brilliant from Ian Galvin.

He takes a lovely touch to take a ball-in from David McInerney in his stride before striking over.

Peter Duggan makes a great catch from a puck-out and lays off to Tony Kelly who strikes over off the right.

TJ Reid bangs over another free after he was fouled by Conor Cleary.

John Donnelly punches the air as he puts Kilkenny three up again. It came after brilliant work from Adrian Mullen to dispossess Adam Hogan as he made his way out of defence.

Peter Duggan is fouled and McCarthy tacks on another free, bringing the gap back to two.
