Here is a look at the card from Saturday's show.

Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles (Undisputed WWE Championship, I Quit)Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre (World Championship)Bayley vs. Piper Niven (Women's World Championship)Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill vs. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn vs. Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark (Women's Tag Titles)Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable (Intercontinental Championship)

Let's take a look at what happened during Clash at the Castle.

Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles (I Quit, WWE Title)

1 of 6

Styles came out first for his WWE title bout against Rhodes, but unlike their previous encounter, this was an I Quit match.

The crowd gave The American Nightmare a great reaction and continued singing his music for several seconds after it was over.

He took control right out of the gate and took it to The Phenomenal One. They fought into the backstage area and back to the arena as the champion continued to control the pace.

Rhodes was busted open after colliding with the ring post and Styles immediately pounced. This was not much of a back-and-forth contest. Both men had long stretches of offense instead of trading moves, which worked well with this stipulation.

The challenger used cuffs to bind Rhodes' arms, but it didn't save him from taking a chair to the face and falling through a table.

They did an excellent job telling their story while making every big spot count. Sadly, some may find the conclusion a bit anticlimactic. Styles finally gave up to avoid being hit with the steel steps, but Rhodes hit him anyway. This was a lot of fun but not without some valid criticisms.

Result: Rhodes vs. Styles

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

Styles' new music feels so lifeless. Rhodes signing autographs on the way to the ring was a cool moment. The way Rhodes knocked Styles to the floor with a running dropkick was awesome. WWE left in a placeholder graphic instead of using one for Rhodes during his into. The brainbuster on the announce table was nuts. The chain on the handcuffs was easily over a foot long.
Belair and Cargill vs. Fyre and Dawn vs. Baszler and Stark (Women's Tag Titles)

2 of 6

The women's tag title triple threat began with Belair, Baszler and Dawn in the ring. Each team had one legal person at a time, so every team was on an even playing field.

This bout had lots of energy, double-team spots and simultaneous moves. All six women had their moments, but Cargill and Belair were the stars.

The four challengers ended up forming an alliance to combat the dominant champions, but any union of this nature is going to be short-lived once everyone realizes there can only be one winning team.

This was a good display of teamwork and how to structure a match, but it was admittedly hard to follow who was legal at times due to some long sequences involving everyone.

There were a couple of noticeable botches and mistakes, but they didn't affect the overall quality that much. In a shocking finish, Dawn ended up pinning Baszler to win the match for herself and Fyre. The Scottish crowd exploded for the new champions.

Result: Dawn and Fyre won the tag titles

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

The Bloodline attacked Rhodes after his match until Randy Orton and Kevin Owens made the save. Cargill lost her gear in her travel bag but still looked like a million bucks with what she ended up using. Cargill overpowering Fyre and Stark at the same time was a cool moment. Cargill tried to springboard into the ring and ended up slipping on the top rope.
Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable (Intercontinental Championship)

3 of 6

The IC title was on the line in the third match when Zayn took on Gable. Otis and Maxxine Dupri were with their mentor but Akira Tozawa was nowhere to be seen.

They started with a simple but competitive lockup that ended in a clean break. Otis and Maxxine looked on as they tried to outwrestle each other.

This wasn't necessarily a clinic in using the most unique moves, but it was a clinic in how to use mostly basics and make everything look good while telling a story. They still got creative at some points, but it was more about why they did things than how they did them.

Gable came within milliseconds of winning at one point. When he got in Maxxine's face, Otis stepped between them and ended up getting taken down by Zayn. Moments later, Gable accidentally knocked Maxxine down, and that put Otis into a state of rage.

Instead of attacking anyone, Otis carried Maxxine away in his arms while Zayn hit a Helluva Kick for the win. This was exactly what it needed to be and set up the eventual Gable vs. Otis feud.

Result: Zayn defeated Gable

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

Zayn got a good pop during his entrance. One of the loudest pops during the match was for Zayn simply talking to Otis. It took more effort than usual for Zayn to clothesline Gable out of the ring.
Bayley vs. Piper Niven (Women's World Title)

4 of 6

The second match featuring a Scottish Superstar saw Niven challenge Bayley for the Women's World Championship.

The crowd was surprisingly evenly split for this one. Bayley is incredibly over in Europe, so the crowd once again serenaded her with singing before she and Niven began trading punches.

It didn't take long for referee Charles Robinson to tire of Green's antics and eject her from ringside. Michael Cole seemed more excited than anyone to see her go to the back.

Niven continued to use her power to dominate the champion, but Bayley used a lot of counters to keep herself in the fight.

Bayley used a series of moves from the top rope but still couldn't get the pin. Green came down in a mask to distract the ref and give Niven enough time to recover, but it wasn't enough to stop Bayley from winning.

This match started a bit slow and amped up over time to become a performance that made both women look great.

Result: Bayley defeated Niven

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

You could see a lot of emotion on Niven's face during her entrance. Green always looks like she is having the time of her life. Bayley landed on her tailbone instead of her back during a suplex. It looked painful.
Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre (World Championship)

5 of 6

McIntyre was played to the ring by a Scottish orchestra performing "Scotland the Brave." WWE displayed a decibel meter to show the crowd cheering at around 100 decibels.

Priest had his usual entrance for the main event, which made McIntyre feel like the bigger star despite being the challenger.

These are two men you could classify as powerhouses, so it felt like an even matchup in almost every way.

This was a physical bout, but it felt like they took too long between big moments sometimes. The crowd was invested, but with McIntyre in the main event, one would think his countrymen would be loud during the entire match.

It got better toward the end as McIntyre appeared to have the match in hand. The champion continued to sell his leg and the referee was taken out, so there was nobody to make a count after a Claymore.

CM Punk ran down and teased counting the pin as a ref before kicking McIntyre below the belt and walking away. This allowed Priest to recover and get the pin once the ref woke up.

Result: Priest defeated McIntyre

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

It was nice hearing Roddy Piper's theme again. McIntyre's dive over the top rope was fun. The way Priest got his foot hung up on the top rope looked painful as he was dangling from the ring.
The Final Word

6 of 6

This year's Clash at the Castle PLE was a pretty solid show from top to bottom. Only the women's tag match result was surprising, but the good news is it felt like every result was the right call.

Gable and Zayn had the best bell-to-bell performance, and there wasn't a single bout you could single out as weak. Everyone brought their A-game and gave Glasgow a fun event to remember.

With Punk and McIntyre's feud kicking into high gear, we are likely going to see them butt heads until a showdown at Money in the Bank or SummerSlam.

Rhodes, Bayley, Priest and Zayn all feel ready for new challengers, but Belair and Cargill are going to be in the hunt for the tag titles after losing them on Saturday.

Sikoa has set his sights on the WWE Championship, but Raw and SmackDown will give us a good indication of how the other champions will move forward.

Grade: B+
