Staff arriving at work today were greeted with a festive atmosphere - the entire airport has been decked out with red and white flags, bundles of bunting and red lighting to get everybody in the mood to support the home team.

It's not just the interior that's been kitted out ahead of the big day - thanks to the hard work of all the electrics crew at the airport, the outside of the building will be lit up in red every evening for the rest of the week.

The airport's bronze statue of sporting legend Christy Ring has also been adorned with Cork flags, a past champion cheering on the current hurlers as they aim to bring Liam McCarthy back Leeside after 19 years.

And anyone taking a trip on Sunday won't have to worry about missing the match - big screens will be rolled out around Departures and Arrivals to show the game live.

Managing Director at Cork Airport Niall MacCarthy said that even though staff had been challenged by the unexpected Microsoft outage this morning that took down systems worldwide, they were still committed to showing their support for the Cork team.

He said: “Our airport employees experienced huge challenges today Friday with the worldwide systems outage, but they smiled on through and all flights planned did depart although late.

"This is the same winning spirit which we hope will see the Cork Hurling team victorious in Croke Park on Sunday. Come on the Rebels from all at Cork Airport!”
