If you are trying to get your hands on passes to the Fan Zone Big Screen event at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday for the All Ireland final - do not panic, they are due to go on release very shortly.
The early demand for the passes this morning appears to have crashed the official Cork GAA website - which has not been operational for some hours, almost certainly because of the volume of people trying to get on and book their tickets.
However, CorkBeo understands that work is being done to get the site up and running again from midday today, which will see the official release of the tickets and fans should be reassured that there will be plenty of room in the stands.
A spokesperson for the organisers told us this morning: "Details will go live on the Cork GAA and Cork City Council sites before lunchtime. It will be simultaneously posted on our social media channels, with a link to the ticket provider. We would please ask that you only seek tickets should you intend to use them."
The best way to get the tickets will be to check the Cork City Council Website, the official Cork GAA website and the social media for both (Cork GAA on Twitter and Cork City Council on Twitter).
Go direct to the Eventmaster site to reserve tickets here.
The match will be shown on a massive 9x5.8 metre LED wall at the city end of the stadium, with music and food concessions to really get in the match atmosphere.
Cork GAA has told anyone hoping to get down to the Fanzone to be aware that:
Doors open at 2 pm, and only valid ticket holders will be admitted
TV coverage will be shown from 2:15pm
All u16s need to be accompanied by an adult
There is to be no consumption of alcoholic beverages at the Fanzone event
Patrons are to obey stewards and Gardai at all times
Pedestrian access to the stadium is via Centre Park Road
Use public transport and city centre car parks
No parking is provided in the vicinity of the stadium
Please respect our neighbours around the stadium and do not park illegally
Dress for the weather, no umbrellas or hurleys allowed in the Fanzone
Also - if you are in Cobh over the weekend - you can see the match live on the big screen on the Promenade as part of the music festival that is taking place there over the weekend.
The fanzone at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh has been set up in response to the overwhelming demand for tickets from fans who are hoping to see Cork capture a hurling title for the first time in 18 years.
The organisers say every effort will be made to ensure the best atmosphere possible at the home of hurling in Cork.
Pat Horgan, Chairperson of Cork GAA, said, “With demand for final tickets at an unprecedented level, unfortunately not everyone will be able to attend Croke Park next Sunday. We are grateful to the support of Cork City Council to facilitate the Rebels’ Fanzone, which will allow supporters of all ages an opportunity to come together, and support an incredible team on an incredible journey.”
Brian Geaney, Deputy Chief Executive of Cork City Council said, “Cork City Council and Cork GAA are delighted to host a fanzone event at Pairc Ui Chaoimh during next Sunday's All Ireland Hurling Final. There's huge excitement building across Cork and we're planning for an electric atmosphere at this free, family friendly event at the home of Cork GAA".
Cork GAA and Cork City Council are also preparing for the Rebels’ Return, a live event at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Monday July 22nd, to celebrate a brilliant year for Cork hurling.
Further details will be made available later in the week.
