THE countdown is over for the Cork Summer Show, as the gates open today for a weekend of fun, food, and festivities.
Those attending the show across Saturday and Sunday are being encouraged to ‘take the easy road’ and utilise the public transport being made available to visitors.
“Thanks to Bus Éireann, a special extension of the Cork City 208 route will bring you to a dedicated bus stop located right at the entrance to the Cork Summer Show,” organisers of the show have said.
The extended Bus Éireann service runs from 7am until 8.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday, ensuring people have plenty of time to enjoy the show.
The 208 route serves a wide area of Cork city, beginning at Ashmount, passing through Mayfield, Ballyhooley Road, Summer Hill, MacCurtain Street, Patrick Street, UCC, Wilton, Bishopstown, and for the weekend will be terminating at the Cork Summer Show.
Shuttle bus
Cork Summer Show also offers ‘Park and Ride’ services with a free shuttle bus services departing from Ballincollig Shopping Centre carpark, with a pick-up on Main Street and Cork City Council Park and Ride at Black Ash, near the Kinsale Road roundabout.
Those travelling by car are advised to take Exit 2 “Curraheen” on the N40 (South Ring / Ballincollig Bypass) and follow the signs for the Cork Summer Show.

Themed zones
There are 20 themed zones and acres of traditional agricultural competitions and equestrian events, stalls, displays, and marquees to explore, all set in the lush surrounds of the Cork Showgrounds at Curraheen.
Cork Summer Show promises to be a fun day out with lots to discover for the whole family. Attendees can meet farm animals, explore the world of agriculture or whet their appetite with great food, brushing up on culinary skills by watching live demonstrations by top chefs or taking part in one of many talks delivered by food experts.
There are also fascinating educational exhibits, talks and lectures, as well as an opportunity to see all the latest agri-tech, with farm and garden machinery and motors to browse.
