Georgia May Foote, who played Katy Armstrong on Coronation Street's iconic Cobbles, updated her Instagram page for her GMFNails business on Saturday with troubling news of her medical issue.
She uploaded a text slide to her Instagram Stories with the words: "Thank you.
"Clients booked in last week, I just wanted to let you know that I had last minute surgery today.
"I'm not sure what the recovery is like or how quick I will be able to return.
"So I am just giving a heads up that your appointment may change."
Her client base will no doubt be hugely concerned about the news, and the nature of her illness.
Georgia failed to put anything about the medical dash on her personal Instagram Stories section.
Her previous post was a thought-provoking text quote which read: "You could give some people a drop of water and they'd still appreciate you.

Her previous post on her business grid was that of a "Greece nails" manicure with stylish blue and nude polish and delicate nail art.

Georgia has always been candid about her health battles with her online following.
She begged fans to "be kind" as she addressed her vitiligo condition.
The screen star lives with vitiligo, which the NHS describes as a long term condition caused by a lack of melanin, a pigment in the skin.
She previously shared pictures on Instagram page highlighting how the pigment on her skin is changing.

The beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.
"Every time I go on holiday and I get a beautiful tan, I see how much my vitiligo has spread more than ever before," wrote Georgia.
"I would be lying if I didn’t say it gets to me.
"It makes me feel super insecure at times.
"But seeing how the people around me support me and still love me the same makes my heart feel full."
She then suggested there had been negative reactions to her skin in the past.
Georgia added in the same post: "I’ve noticed people staring, having a good old nosy with their faces screwed up, and that’s when my heart drops.
"So this is just a friendly reminder to those people to be kind. I’m sure the way it makes you feel is nothing in comparison to how the person with it feels.
"I’m proud to be a voice for people like me with the condition. I battle with how I feel about it every day. Today’s one of those days I remember there is nothing I can do about it.
"So here we are. Showing it in all its glory (I do have lipstick on, but my whole colour has now gone in and around my lips)."
Georgia starred on Corrie for five years.
She also finished as a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing and had a previous romance with dancer Giovanni Pernice, 33.
