Coronation Street's Roy Cropper is said to be 'much better' after he left Weatherfield for some rest following a troubling time. The beloved character was imprisoned earlier this year for a crime he didn't commit.
Roy, played by ITV soap legend David Neilson, became the main suspect when Lauren Bolton disappeared. He was thought to be the last person to see her alive and later misguidedly cleaned her flat to help out his pal Evelyn Plummer.
But when blood was found in the precinct flat, the disappearance became a murder probe and it wasn't long before Roy was charger with his former employee's murder.

However, it was revealed in flashback scenes aired in May that Roy, as everyone already knew, was innocent after he was charged with the suspected murder of the missing teen and that it was really Joel Deering who was her 'secret boyfriend' and had something to do with her sudden disappearance.
After making a swift exit from Roy's homecoming, after he was finally released from prison, Joel was met by Hope Stape who handed him a necklace that she found in his car when cleaning it, which viewers recognised belonged to Lauren. Then, a flashback clip revealed him to be Lauren's secret 'boyfriend' and him brutally attacking her with a chair leg.
Viewers have since seen Lauren return, alive and pregnant, with the truth about her relationship with Joel told for the first time in a series of flashback clips. But Lauren's return came as she visited a poorly Roy in hospital as he suffered a heart attack following another confrontation with yobs blaming him for the teen's death.
As a result of having spent months being targeted with abuse due to the allegations against him, Roy decided that he needed a break from Weatherfield for a while. He didn't want to go without saying goodbye to Carla and when he explained that he planned to visit ex Cathy in Scarborough, Carla decided that she wanted to come too, and wasn’t taking no for an answer.
Offering to give Roy a lift to save him getting the train, she said that she would book herself into a hotel with a spa, for a weekend of R&R and the pair later headed off.
Now, Cathy actress Melanie Hill has offered an unexpected update. She shared a snap of herself and David by the sea to social media and said: "Greetings from Scarborough @coronationstreet #RoyandCathy," with the smiling snap shared to Corrie's Instagram Story.
She also shared the post to her own Instagram grid and X, formerly known as Twitter, account and added: "He’s feeling much better !! It’s the sea air." And delighted Corrie fans were quick to respond.
