Cristiano Ronaldo 'joked' about Juventus team meals

Cristiano Ronaldo used to joke about his Juventus teammates’ food choices, according to Arthur Melo.

Arthur teamed up with Ronaldo in the 2020-21 season. It was the Portuguese’s third and final campaign in Turin. He scored 36 goals in all competitions that season to help Juventus win a domestic cup double.

But while recalling his time with Ronaldo, it wasn’t the striker’s stats that Arthur marveled on. It was his professionalism and mentality. The way he conducted himself every day impressed the Brazilian greatly.

“As an athlete and as a person, he is spectacular,” Arthur told Mundo Deportivo about Ronaldo.

“He tries to improve every day. I remember that when we met at Juventus, in the dining room, he always looked at the rest of our plates and joked about what we were eating. He is very professional. I had never seen someone with his mentality before.”

Ronaldo left Juventus in 2021 to rejoin Manchester United. He scored 27 goals during his second spell at Old Trafford, before leaving last November.

In January, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. He signed a contract with the Riyadh-based team until June 2025. He has since gone on to smash home an impressive 14 goals in only 19 games.

As for Arthur, the midfielder recently completed an injury-troubled season on loan at Liverpool. He plans to return to Juventus, but won’t rule out a summer transfer. His contract with the Italian club runs until June 2025.
