RTE Late Late Show viewers all left in stitches after Patrick Kielty made a risky innuendo towards Daniel O'Donnell on air.

The biggest names in Irish country music joined Kielty for tonight's show, which saw one household name inducted into the Irish Country Hall of Fame.

The Late Late Show Country Music Special is one of the most popular episodes of the year and is second only to The Late Late Toy Show in demand for audience tickets.

Patrick was joined in the hot seat by Daniel O'Donnell and ex-Eastenders star Shona McGarty at the start of the show.

The duo spoke about their how their friendship had recently blossomed through music

Shona even revealed how she had a photo of Daniel in her childhood home like "the sacred heart".

Patrick went on to ask Daniel what his plans were for 2025 or if he had "any cruises planned".

Daniel revealed that himself and his wife Majella would be setting sail once again on a Caribbean cruise.

Patrick jokingly interrupted his story with a cheeky innuendo as he asked: "And do they like it when they drop your anchor?"

The Late Late audience irrupted into fits of laughter as a giggling Patrick made a funny face to the camera.

A red-faced Daniel then scolded: "Now you listen here, yourself and your anchor."

A number of people started whistling in the crowd and clapping in the crowd, resulting in a belly laugh from Kielty.

As the Irish host had previously asked Shona if Daniel was a "diva" to work with, the actress looked over at Patrick as Daniel pointed his finger at him and said: "See?"

The Irish host then responded: "Oh I know he just gives you the look and you go, 'I can't go any further'."

Daniel then cut across and added: "It's not much good to have the sacred heart on the wall and say that in front of him."

And RTE were all left in stitches at the risque comment as they took to Twitter.

Sarah wrote: "Oh god no Kielty ahahah."

Tommy said: "At least Daniel has a good sense of humour lol."

While Lorna added: "I've just had to look up what 'drop your anchor' meant in slang. Genuinely didn't know. Jaysus Patrick hahaha."

And Johnny remarked: "Daniel is a great laugh."
