McFly’s Danny Jones shared how he and his Essex born bandmates were victims of a cheeky prank by Sir Rod Stewart, which left them in hot water with US immigration. Currently taking part in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity, Danny has been spilling all about life in the band from touring antics to naked after show rituals.

During the latest episode of the hit ITV show, Danny sat down to have a chat with former boxer Barry McGuigan. They both shared memories of appearing on Ireland's talk show programme The Late, Late Show, which is hosted by Patrick Kielty.

Barry revealed he once appeared alongside Michael Bublé, while Danny starred with music legend Sir Rod Stewart. He then recalled a very cheeky prank the musician played on him and the band. Danny explained how when they finished the show, Rod offered McFly a lift back to Stansted on his jet.

While on their way home, Danny decided to tell Rod how they were gearing up for their tour around America and South America. Upon landing in England, Rod took their passports before heading back to his home just outside of Harlow, Essex.

Danny shared: “He got in his Rolls-Royce, got our passports back and gave them to our tour manager. All the Visas were sorted, everything was sorted for America and South America. And because I told him that story, he thought it would be funny to draw penises on our heads on our passports!”

Coronation Street's Alan Halsall and Barry laughed, as Danny explained how the band got in trouble when arriving at US immigration. He was asked: “You think this is funny sir?” Danny explained at the time: “No, no, no! Rod Stewart literally drew a penis on our heads!”

The McFly boys have strong ties to Essex. Harry Judd, the drummer of the band, was born in our county town, Chelmsford, while Dougie Poynter, who is on bass and vocals, was born in Orsett. Tom Fletcher, although born outside of Essex, is married to Essex born Giovanna, the sister of TOWIE’s own Mario Falcone. Giovanna won I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here in 2020.
