Daryl Gurney has qualified for the last sixteen of the World Darts Championship at the expense of Ricky Evans. The Northern Irish dart player won 4-2 against 'Rapid Ricky', who had eliminated Nathan Aspinall a round earlier.
Again, a surprise was certainly a possibility. But with only 13 out of 42 on the doubles, you're not going to win matches. Evans did win the first set and even got ahead by a break in the second set, but could not grab a 2-0 lead.
The third set did go to Evans, before Gurney won the fourth set 3-2 with an 86 finish. Next, "Superchin" dealt a huge blow by throwing a 164 finish in Evans' set, taking a 3-2 lead. Gurney did not take that lead away and with an 84 finish in the sixth set, Gurney finished it off.
