Prosecutors have asked for a 14-year sentence to be imposed on Irish rugby player Denis Coulson who is on trial in France for an alleged rape in 2017.
Former Grenoble teammate and Irish rugby international Chris Farrell is also accused of failing to prevent a crime and prosecutors are seeking a four-year term in his case.
The jury are currently deliberating in the trial of the two Irishmen and three other former Grenoble players.
Although the trial and the testimony of the alleged victim, who was 20 at the time, was behind closed doors, lawyers have briefed journalists at the courthouse in Bordeaux.
Midi Olympique reported that the prosecutors yesterday sought lengthy sentences for the accused rugby players.
The jury due to return a verdict later tonight, it is reported.
Each of the accused who included Frenchman Loick Jammes and New Zealander Rory Grice, 34, accused of rape and Dylan Hayes over failure to prevent the alleged rape, gave their version of events to the court this week.
It was previously reported the woman alleges she was attacked at a hotel on the outskirts of Bordeaux, where the Grenoble team spent the night after losing a Top 14 encounter against local side Bordeaux-Begles.
She filed a complaint with police, saying she had met the players in a bar together with two friends and accompanied them to a nightclub where all of them drank heavily.
The student said she had no recollection of how she got from the club to the hotel where she woke up, naked on a bed and with a crutch inserted in her vagina.
She saw two naked men in the room and others fully dressed.
The five men have denied the charges the charges against them.
