Lotte and Leah comment on derby win | Interview | News
Lotte Wubben-Moy was delighted to be back on the pitch for Saturday's 3-0 north London derby win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"It's nice to be back but I think more importantly to be able to cap off a big win," she said. "We've had an exhausting last few weeks and it's a credit to everyone's physical capabilities but also emotional capabilities. The fact that we can get into a north London derby and win like that is a credit to everyone."
We got off to a flying start courtesy of Alessia Russo's second-minute opener, and it came as no surprise to Leah Williamson.
"You don't always see the rewards when you come onto a football pitch but the way we prepared all week was to start like that," she explained. "We knew we wanted to start well.
"I think we just all feel really together and we're all trying to get the most that we can out of each other. We knew that now it's on us and we have to perform under pressure every single week, but we're not really looking at it like that. We want to be better. At the minute it's paying off so whilst it's like this I think you can really demand more when you're in a good place and that's when you should keep pushing."
Leah was also aked to comment on her 150th appearance in the Barclays Women's Super League on Saturday, combined with her 100th league win.
" I love playing for Arsenal," she said. "I'm very, very happy and if I was going to have 100 wins and 150 appearances anywhere, I would want them today."
Up next, we're back in UEFA Women's Champions League action with the visit of Juventus at Arsenal Stadium on Thursday night.
"We've got to be expecting changes from them but I think for us, like Leah said, it's about just raising our levels regardless of what is put in front of us" Lotte said. "If we can control what we're able to put out on the pitch then the rest takes care of itself."
