Dolly Parton is known for many things, from her music to her theme park to her books and television and movie appearances. All of these things made her the household name she is today and a beloved figure in pop culture. However, one of the greatest things about Dolly Parton is her dedication to philanthropy. Dolly established the Imagination Library, which mails children all across the world free books every month from the time they're born until they enter school. She's provided scholarships to every child in her home county of Sevierville, Tennessee, for decades, and donated millions of dollars to countless charities and causes over the course of her career. It's clear that Dolly has a heart of gold and has used her fortune for good from the very beginning.
This year, Parton is participating in yet another charitable endeavor. She is set to perform at the Dallas Cowboys halftime show on Thanksgiving Day, kicking off The Salvation Army's 133rd Red Kettle Campaign. Parton is lending her time and talents to promote The Salvation Army's mission to support families in need this holiday season with everything from food to housing and bill assistance to Christmas presents for children. Parton is becoming a part of the 27 year tradition, kicking off the campaign during half time of the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders.
“Wow! What an honor to get to kick off The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign with the halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys game this Thanksgiving,” Parton said in a press release. “Those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times. My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”
Dolly will perform some of her biggest hits along with new songs from her Rockstar album released on November 17. Her performance will air on November 23 at 3:30 CST on CBS. She has already earned her place amongst the most selfless celebrities, and this performance only makes us love her that much more!
