Businesses in Roscommon Town are set for a huge financial boost as the game is expected to attract a bumper crowd of up to 20,000 — likely to be one of the biggest crowds for a game at the home of Roscommon GAA in years.

Details of the final round of group matches in the All-Ireland Series have been released this afternoon, with Roscommon’s crunch game against Cavan fixed for Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford, on Saturday week, June 15th, at 5 p.m..

Davy Burke’s men need a win or a draw to progress to a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final the following weekend.

Hyde Park had been mooted as a possible neutral venue for the big clash between Mayo and Dublin in recent weeks.

Major redevelopment work has taken place at the ground, with new seating installed in front of the main stand, increasing the capacity of the stadium to 23,900.

Current Roscommon GAA Chairperson, Brian Carroll, is the current chairperson of the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) in Croke Park, which fixed the venues for the games. Carroll was appointed to the role by GAA President, Jarlath Burns, earlier this year.

Games have also been fixed for Markievicz Park, Sligo, which will host the mouthwatering clash between Galway and Armagh on Sunday week at 1.45 p.m., and Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar, which will see Donegal and Clare lock horns at the County Mayo venue on Saturday week at 3 p.m..
