One lucky passenger had a very memorable Leap Day trip to Dublin Airport on Thursday. Staff at the busy airport spotted a woman proposing to her partner outside the departures area during the afternoon, managing to snap a photo of the couple right as they got engaged.
The pair can be seen kissing on the street next to a car in the photo, which was soon shared online in an attempt to track them down. Dublin Airport created a post on X asking the couple to reach out so staff could give them a gift, writing: "As The Beatles once said: 'Why don't we do it in the road?'.
"A warm congrats to the lovely couple we spotted getting engaged today on Departures Road. The Leap Day tradition of women proposing to men on February 29 is clearly alive and well!"

The couple, Anna and Andy, were found on Friday. The Dublin natives shared their story in a video posted by the airport, where Anna revealed her special Leap Day plan.
She said: "I was at book club about a week ago and all the girls were egging me on saying 'it's February 29, are you going to do it?'. So, I got crafty, made a paper ring, and went to pick up Andy. I took the opportunity to propose."
Members of Anna's book club spotted Dublin Airport's post and sent it to her so she could make herself known. After the reveal, staff from the airport travelled to the couple's home with a hamper and a VIP voucher for their honeymoon.
"It was just lovely," Anna said. "It just added to the magic."
