Round Up: Go-Ahead AFL 3 - 24th March

Trinity Gaels maintained their strong start to Division 3 of the Go-Ahead Dublin Adult Football League as they enjoyed a 1-15 to 0-10 win over Ballymun Kickhams at Páirc Ciceam on Sunday morning.

In what was an excellent team performance, Darren Byrne, Evan McDonagh and Shaun Flanagan were the pick of the away defence while goalkeeper Thomas McCann was a solid presence between the sticks.

Jamie Bishop supplied plenty of ball from centrefield for the likes of Sean Boylan (1-2), Josh McCann (0-6) and Jack Rowe (0-3) to build a sizeable advantage.

Evan Whelan also impressed with a two-point salvo with the Gaels scoring completed by points from McDonagh and Byrne.

In Glenauline Park, St Patrick’s Palmerstown picked up their first win of the year with goals coming at crucial times in their 3-9 to 0-9 win over St Sylvester’s.

The hosts started brightly through points from Collie Driver, Alan Griffin and Cian Walsh before Syls hit back with five successive scores.

However, a Cian McGrane goal brought the teams level by half-time and a brace of Doey Murray goals and influential displays by Jim Kelly, Peter Keaney, James Delaney and Cormac Dunne saw Pat’s home with nine points to spare.

It proved far tighter in Bohernabreena as St Anne’s edged Templeogue Synge Street by 2-11 to 1-11 with Scott Fulham kicking six points for the hosts.

The home goals were scored by Matthew Murphy and Tim Fitzpatrick as St Anne’s prevailed thanks to strong individual performances by Craig Conroy, Lee Maher, Dara McGrath and Jamie O’Neill.

On Friday night, Ballyboden St Enda’s did just enough to claim the two points on offer as they edged Cuala by 2-8 to 2-6 at Sancta Maria.

The influential Tom Magee opened the scoring for Cuala with the hosts hitting back through points by Evan Flanagan with the midfield battle an intriguing subplot all evening.

A Liam McHugh goals for the visitors ensured a 1-4 apiece stalemate at half-time and Cuala looked to have landed another significant body blow when Oscar Hussey converted a penalty to hand his side the initiative.

However, Boden struck back through points by Conal Keaney and Fionn Keating-McDermott and a Mikey Dunne goal saw them overtake their opponents as the hosts held on through strong displays by David Quinlivan and Ciaran Kiely.

Across in Sean Moore Park, Clanna Gael Fontenoy defeated Castleknock by 1-17 to 0-8 with the scoreline slightly flattering in the hosts’ favour.

Conor Hennessy, David McMahon and Mike O’Connor provided the bulk of the home scores while at the opposite end, Dean Holmes and Brian McKenna were the pick of the Clanna Gael defence.
