Four people were taken to hospital following an incident of suspected arson that happened in West Dublin in the early hours of Monday morning.  

The incident happened at around 5am at a residence in the Aylmer Drive area of Newcastle.

Four occupants of the house were evacuated and taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were non-life threatening.

The fire was extinguished by members of Dublin Fire Brigade. 

A garda spokesperson said the scene is currently preserved for technical examination and investigations into this incident are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Newcastle/Rathcoole area of County Dublin between 4am and 5:30am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí," the garda spokesperson added. 

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Clondalkin Garda Station on 01 6667600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
