1.40pm: Two Sinn Féin seats possible as all boxes now tallied

Two Sinn Féin seats are likely in this four-seater as all boxes have now been tallied.

One of the tallymen in Dublin South Central, Martin Snee, confirmed there was extra count staff on duty in the RDS.

"It was a lot of volunteers for the tally, and so it went quite smoothly," he told the Irish Independent.

"I was told that there was extra count staff on duty so the tally finished just around 11 o'clock," he added.

Mr Snee said the tallies showed there might be two seats taken by Sinn Féin candidates - Aengus Ó Snodaigh and Daithí Doolan, who have 12pc and 9pc respectively.

"One seat between Hazel De Nortúin and Joan Collins and I think Catherine Ardagh will get a seat on the transfer from Mary Seery-Kearney.

"Because looking at the transfers, it is quite a heavy transfer between Mary Seery-Kearney to Catherine Ardagh," he added.

A third Sinn Féin's candidate Máire Devine and Fianna Fáil's Catherine Ardagh are both at 10pc, while both People Before Profit's Hazel De Nortúin and Social Democrats' Jen Cummins have 9pc.

However, incumbent Right to Change's Joan Collins has 8pc while Green Party's Patrick Costello has 6pc.

11.30am: Early tallies show Sinn Féin candidates topping the poll

As 27pc of the boxes have been opened for Dublin South Central, early tallies show Sinn Féin's councillor Daithí Doolan topping the poll at 19pc.

Another Sinn Féin candidate who is doing well is the sitting TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh with 16pc, who is on his way to keep his seat.

He is followed by People Before Profit's Hazel De Nortúin, with 14pc, and Fianna Fáil's candidate Catherine Ardagh, with 8pc, who might have a chance of securing the fourth seat.

It comes as Dublin South Central didn't elect any Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael candidates in 2020.
