Dún Laoghaire: Cormac Devlin (FF)
Fianna Fáil’s Cormac Devlin has been a full-time public representative since becoming the youngest ever member of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council at the age of 23 in 2004. He previously worked in financial services.
He survived the 2009 locals having already built a solid base in the area. In 2016 he gained the nomination to run for the party in the general election despite an initial attempt to exclude him from the process.
Having beaten Mary Hanafin for the right to run, however, she was added to the ticket and neither of them was elected. He finished a couple of thousand votes behind her.
They were both back in 2020 but he finished comfortably ahead of her this time and, boosted by her transfers, went on to take the seat.
He served as Fianna Fáil whip during the last Dáil and is well regarded as a constituency worker.
From Glenageary, Devlin went to Harold Boys school in Dalkey then Pres Glasthule and the IPA.
He is married and they have three children.
