Two batches of Dunnes Stores cheese recalled due to Listeria fears
Two batches of cheese sold by Dunnes Stores have been recalled due to the possible presence of bacteria.
The recall by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) relates to two cheeses: Dunnes Stores Beechwood Smoked Wicklow Cheddar and Dunnes Stores Tomato & Herb Wicklow Cheddar. It relates to all pack sizes.
The FSAI said the recall is "due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes". Consumers are being advised not to eat the affected cheeses.
For the beechwood smoked cheese, the affected batch code is 24182 with a use-by date of February 28, 2025. The tomato and herb cheese batch code is 24302 with a use-by date of February 9, 2025.
Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, according to the FSAI.
"Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly."
A recall has also been issued for Wicklow Gold Beechwood Smoked Mild Cheddar for the same reason. The recall applies to all pack sizes, with the use-by date being February 28, 2025.
Two other recalls have been listed by the FSAI, one for 'Chrissy’s Cookies & Cream Cheesecake'.
The recall is due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected products have a batch code of 337 with a use-by date of December 19, 2024.
Chrissy’s Cookies & Cream CheesecakeO’Halleran Family Farm Free Range Eggs have also been recalled due to the possible presence of Salmonella.
According to the FSAI, this only applies to packs with the egg producer number 1 IE N01 with the following best before dates: December 3, December 10, December 17, December 24 and December 31.
Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.
